The Mega Update Post!

I'm back! I don't know how consistently yet, but I'm back!

Where to start...

1) Psychology Conference

Soooo.... I presented my topic at the conference! Umm... I was so busy that I winged the whole thing. Freddie actually helped me format most of the powerpoint so that it looked nice and wonderfully escorted me to the conference. Awwww, he's so sweet.

There were technical difficulties in my panel. Namely, the projector wouldn't connect to a MAC because it had no adapter. I asked an A/V guy for it and he said it was being used at the moment. So I had to switch over.

The talk went well. My evaluation at the end of the day was a "Very Good". Considering I winged it, that was nice.

Our keynote speaker of the day was none other than the VP Research. He was quite articulate. Although I was a little annoyed when he plugged a green project he was currently working on at the end of his talk. I guess that's how people do it.

My first conference presentation. Not too shabby at all.

2) Graduation difficulties

Are you freaking kidding me. Due to a computer hiccup, I almost didn't graduate. For some reason it didn't recognize some of the courses I took for my minor and, as a result, didn't want to let me graduate this semester. Hell to the no! Hahaha, I went to advising and then my minor supervisor. After much discussion, I think my supervisor punched advising one in the mouth (her exact words were "This is unacceptable" but I like to think there was also a little bit of "Let me handle this" too) because everything is fine now. Nonetheless, that ate up a lot of my time.

3) Employment

I have new bosses at my bookings job. My direct supervisor is a f-ing tool as the kids say. He likes to suck up to our manager but treats the rest of us poorly. One coworker called him "d*ck" and another set her hours so that she would not have to work with him. I think that speaks for itself.

4) Relationship

Freddie and I are going strong. Hahaha, I'll be honest, we are pretty much cohabiting at this point... since I pretty much see him everyday. It's just really nice. I wake up to a kiss and go to bed with a kiss. It is truly a treat.

5) Exams

I hate them. Enough said. Can't wait until they are over.

6) I fell

I fell you guys. On stone stairs. I went down hard on my right hand and it seriously looks gross. It's healing for now, but it makes it really hard to do things, both fun and regular activities. I'm okay to type now thankfully. A few days ago using my right hand would cause the gauze to be soaked with blood and then overflow from the pores of the bandage. Not pretty.

It's not a big cut and not that deep, I would say less than an inch wide and hence not requiring doctor's attention (I know my first aid). It just bleeds a lot which is normal. Clotting isn't something that my family does well.

7) Grant!

I got a grant to do research!!! Hahaha, guess who has a job in the summer! Whew, that'll give me some time to work on my grad school application and find a good job (if and when my grant runs out).

Whew that's it for updates. I finish in mid-May so expect a whole different experience then. I'll have a different life by then. Out in the real world. Can't wait for that.

Cheers,
SG

  1. Yay, I was just thinking last night that I'd not heard anything from you for a while! Pleased to hear that everything's going well for you :) Apart from the fall, that is. I know how that feels, I fell whilst running a couple of years ago and messed up one of my hands. Not a deep cut, but scraped all the skin off a big chunk of my palm, took ages to heal :/
